The concept for the landscape design is a clearing in mountainside woodland, derived from the site's location in the foothills of the Dublin mountains in Leopardstown.
Limestone paving is provided along the main pathways meandering through the courtyards, with limestone stepping stones provided as secondary pathways or to provide visual interest. The paving is specified as Irish blue limestone, which has a deep dark blue surface, pitted with fossils and finished flame-textured for safety and visual interest.
The planting is low-key and evergreen, with native Irish ferns and small flowering perennials providing a lush visual contrast to the office areas surrounding the courtyards. These plants are hardy and will survive in the shady courtyards. A small decorative evergreen bamboo is also specified. Two small semi-mature decorative flowering trees are provided to enhance the vertical visual appearance of the courtyards, and draw the eye upwards towards the sky.
